Cleveland finally warmed back up. We had pretty chilly temperatures most of January, which always makes me lazy. During the week was pretty quiet. We are back to working out and meal prepping. We always do this the first 3 months of the year but I’m really hoping to keep it going through out the year.
We did eat out a lot this week even with meal prepping. We ate at Happy Moose in Mentor and watched the Cavs game. If you like bourbon Wednesday nights is bourbon night. They have pretty good wraps and salads so we could stick to eating healthier even though we ate out. Thursday we used our gift card at Just One More Tavern in Kirtland, OH. This was owned by a local family and just sold. This was the last weekend they were open and we wanted to make sure we used our gift card. The food was really good and I’m sad we didn’t eat here more often. Another local family purchased the Kirtland restaurant. I wonder what kind of food they will have but no more what it is I’m so excited.
Friday we went to the Lake Metropark’s Farmpark in Kirtland, OH for their ice festival. This event runs two days. Friday night they have ice carving demonstrations and fire and ice tower lighting. Saturday they have ice carving demonstrations and competitions and horse demonstrations in the arena. Both days they had animal encounters, ice slide, fire pits, S’mores and hot coco, food trucks, and the ice chair. I had never been to this event and it was so much fun.
The ice carver was so talented, craving 3 different sculptures. We saw tons of baby animals as well which always makes my day.
It was a little warmer than normal in January and the fire beat the ice with no problem. There was something so memorizing about watching this. I was secretly hoping ice would win.
We stopped at Condados in Mentor, OH after the farmpark for some dinner. I haven’t really been drinking but they had some interesting drinks so we decided to give a couple a try. We tried the Aperol Limonada, which had Tito’s Vodka, Aperol, and homemade lemonade. This was very refreshing and really did not taste like alcohol at all. The other drink we tried was the Harvest Pear, which consisted of Viva Agave Mandura, triple sec, baking spices, lime, lemon and orange. It tasted like apple pie but with pears. It was a little sweet but so yummy. My friend got two tacos, one of them was the menu special of the orange chicken, we split some guac, and I got a bowl with chorizo. Condado is a good option for some American style Mexican food.
Saturday I met up with a friend that always takes me outside my comfort zone and introduces me to some amazing things. This Saturday we checked out Juneberry Table on the west side of Cleveland. It is kind of by the Ohio City area, just a couple streets over on Lorain. Everything on this menu sounded so good. It was so hard to make a decision. We finally did and everything was fabulous.
Sunday we watched football. I can’t believe football season is pretty much over. It was a great season and I won my first fantasy football superbowl!!! Time to focus completely on the Cavs and baseball starts in just a couple months, which also means warmer weather.
What do you have planned for the month of February? Any events or restaurants I should check out?
