February 2024 is in the books

I felt like February just flew by. It was a good balance of craziness and quietness, which I really felt like I needed.

February is the start of weekend pancake breakfasts. Our favorite is at the ChardonVFW Post 6519. Everyone volunteers for these weekends at the VFW and you will see different local youth groups and teams also volunteering. Every week they have different specials including a different flavor pancake, blueberry French toast or our favorite sausage gravy and biscuits. Their pancake breakfasts run until March 24th and I highly suggest checking it out.

The first week of February was exceptionally warm and I took full advantage getting a couple hikes in. Cleveland has some amazing parks and hiking trails. The first afternoon I went to Chagrin River in Willoughby, Ohio. This park has tons of trails and I really enjoy the view of the river.

The second night I went to Chapin Forest in Kirtland, Ohio. The Metropark’s has an option for skiing and a trail that is lighted for at night hiking in the snow. It is also known for the gorgeous view of Lake Erie on a clear day. It’s a rough hike to get up there but once you do you will be so happy you did. You would think you would be too far away to see the Lake but wow!

The weekend before Valentine’s Day I got to spend most of the weekend with one of my best friends, which doesn’t happen nearly enough. Friday we went to the Agora to see country artist Kameron Marlowe. I very much enjoy seeing shows at the Agora, as it’s a smaller venue and the shows alway seem to be so good. Kameron was amazing and we voted we would for sure see him again.

We spent Saturday at the Cleveland Home and Garden show getting ideas for our house and just having so many laughs. I enjoy this event when we have a cold winter and I just need a break and something that reminds me of spring.

We were invited to an event hosted by the Cavs and Lexus that included food, drinks and a Q&A with Georges Niang. It was such a great night and Georges was so great. He answered all kinds of questions and then signed autographs and took photos with us. We of course talked about food and things about Cleveland that surprised him.

We spent Valentine’s Day at the Cavs game. Only place I would want to be with my love and it was the first night of Lent so we checked out Harry Buffalo for dinner because we love an excuse for fish dinners. With that being said I got the pierogi dinner which was pierogi in garlic parm sauce and fries. I was pretty shocked how much I liked this dish and might have to eat pierogi like this more often. We also checked out Regovich’s Catering in Eastlake, Ohio for their all you can eat fish fry that Friday. All of their food is fabulous and the pierogi and mac and cheese taste just like my Grams.

We celebrated our nieces birthday at 1922 Coffee and Brew Co. They have tons of coffee, beer and cocktail options plus breakfast and lunch food options. The food for the party included 4 types of sandwiches, pasta salad, coleslaw and pickles. We tried the Italian and the Cuban sandwiches. Both had fabulous flavor, everything was super fresh and I honestly don’t think there was a bad pick. I also really liked there pasta salad and coleslaw which I tend to be really picky when it comes to these sides.

We closed out the month with the golf show and lots of work around the house. Hoping for some more warm weather and some new restaurants and events for the month of March.
