Weekly update week of July 6th

I decided that something I would really like to do is give a weekly update every week or every other week. These updates will cover everything from restaurants I have tried, to recipes cooked at home, to events I attend, to new music, movies or shows or even just hanging out at home. I figure from there I can expand on my reviews of places and other things if a separate posts makes sense.

This past week was actually one of the busiest weeks I have had in a long time. I had ice cream three times, hot dogs for dinner, hung out with one of my favorite nephews, made an amazing recipe and hung out at home some.

To start the week off we had ice cream twice on our ice cream tour. Monday we tried Jerry’s Dairy in Wickliffe and got to talk to the owner and get a little bit of history. The ice cream was good and it was another place I had never been before.

Tuesday instead of just ice cream we decide to go to Scooters in Mentor and grab dinner and ice cream. There hours are a little strange right now but we timed it just right to get both dinner and ice cream. Everything was as amazing as always. I know it’s just hotdogs and French fries but this place always just does it right. It was nice to enjoy some time with my nephew as well.

Saturday we adventured to Chagrin Falls, as we were feeling like we needed to take a drive. My nephew wanted to go to the “secret place” which is Chagrin Falls. I love there downtown area and all the cute little shops. On this adventure we ventured to both waterfalls, walked around a little bit and then headed to Jeni’s for some ice cream before heading out. Which my nephew for some reason didn’t want any ice cream. What child does not want ice cream???? I was so boggled by this. Then we stood in line and he decided he did want some lol! That’s what I thought. With everything going on the choices were a little limited at Jeni’s, which is something I expect no matter where we go. They did have the Wildberry Lavender, which I had to try, as I have friends who just swear by it.

I then decided to get crazy on Wednesday and created this crazy dinner which did take a while but it was so worth it. We had grilled flank steak marinated in garlic and rosemary with toasted brown rice with mushrooms and thyme and grilled veggies. Then I made a Basil Chimichurri sauce for the steak. I had never made steak with fresh rosemary and I will for sure do it again. It added so much flavor to the steak. Having all these fresh herbs at my disposal makes it so easy to make all of these fresh dishes. This was one of my favorites so far. The question is what else it to come in the cooking department as it has become one of my favorite past times. I guess we will see.

The rest of the week was spent enjoying my back yard and relaxing sometime you just can’t pass up on those types of days.
