Weekly Update Week of August 3rd

I can’t believe as of today it is the middle of August. 2020 has just flown by. I’m not sure why this year has been flying by but everyday pretty much feels the same and I’m pretty sure I forgot how to use my calendar. I have been terrible at adding anything to it because we just see how we feel that day if we want to do something, which we have never been able to do and it has been super nice. This week consisted of another ice cream place on our ice cream tour, a Friday night spent at the wineries and a beach day.

We tried Foster’s Homemade Ice Cream on Chardon Rd. in Willoughby Hills for the first time. It was raining this day so I did not get a picture of the cute blue building they are in, but it is pretty adorable. I will say that this was the one place we went to so far that when I asked what they were known for? All of the girls knew what I meant and threw out a couple ideas. I will do a full separate review, as I am doing this with all the ice cream places but it was pretty good. The service was great here all of the staff was super nice and knowledgable. Also since we went here on national chocolate chip cookie day you know we took some home with us. They were perfect with coffee for breakfast in the morning.

On Friday we did a date night with our friends. We decided to go enjoy the wineries in Ashtabula county for the night. They led the way as they go out her very often. The first place we visited was Rosabella, which is a new winery that just opened in June. It is family owed and very quaint. Our friends have been here a couple times since it opened and they knew who they were and what they wanted the minute we walked in. I very much appreciate that in a place. My husband and I tried a sampler of their wines and brought home a bottle of wine called The Happy Couple. It was slightly sweet but the combination of Kiwi and Pear compliment each other very well. We also grab some appetizers from here and sat on one of their two patios.

Next, we visited my favorite winery Cask 307. This reminds me a some of the distilleries I have been to just the feel of the building itself. They have a gorgeous patio behind their building that over looks the grape fields. They have my favorite wine here a bourbon chardonnay. With my love of bourbon this should not surprise anyone but man its so good. We also grab some food from here as well trying their charcuterie board and a chicken flat bread pizza.

Our last stop on our date night was Stonegait Winery, where the sun began to set and we finished off our night. The wine here was average but the space inside and out is gorgeous. We sat on their outdoor patio, enjoyed our wine and decided to actually have some dinner not just appetizers. We tried their chicken bacon ranch pizza, which was really good. The pizza has a thinner crust so it gets super crispy and had amazing flavor. We also got some cheesy garlic bread to close out our date night.

Saturday my husband and I went to some garage sales and then grabbed some lunch at Manhattan Deli in Willoughby. He of course got a Ruben because how do you not. I ventured away from this a little bit and got a hot Italian sandwich. The meat here always tastes so fresh. The rest of my Saturday was spent at one of my favorite relaxation places, the beach. It was a little crowded for my liking but we managed just fine. Lake Metroparks does a great job keeping Fairport Harbor beach clean, making it worth the couple dollars to park. We even went into the water, which has been a prefect temperature.

I am trying to be hopeful we have another month or month a half of beach weather left but I’m Cleveland you never know what the weather will decide to do.
