One thing I find myself slacking at doing sometimes is making sure I take care of myself. Between work and life sometimes it just slips my mind. I have found a couple things I do like, Yoga being one of them. So this past weekend I convinced some of my friends and my husband that we should do a private yoga class at Sol in Willoughby with Yoga by Taj and I really wanted to share our experience.
I want to start out first by saying that the owner of Yoga by Taj, Tanja, is an amazing instructor. She had asked me what we were looking for in our class and I had told her a mixture of the options provided, meditation, self release and some workout. I also advised her that we had some beginners in the class and let’s be honest I have only done yoga a hand full of times. She added in all of the above options and it was a good combination of beginner level movements and some more difficult poses for my friends that do yoga often. Yoga by Taj is doing a wilderness series that has two more classes left. One today at Lakefront Lodge in Willowick and next Thursday the 1st at Lake Erie Bluffs in Perry. The classes start at 6pm, last 60 minutes and are $10 to drop in. You can sign up by sending an Instagram message to Yoga by Taj or if you just head out there I am sure you will be able to join. She does have other classes, which you can find the schedule on her instagram and Facebook accounts (Yogabytaj) and is holding a couple more private lessons at Sol before the weather changes.
Now to our class! The class was $40, which included an hour of yoga, mimosas and brunch off of Sol’s menu. The yoga class was outside underneath the gazebo. It made for an excellent start to a Saturday morning. I love being able to be outside doing yoga with nature. The class was a good combination of everything we had asked for. It was so fun to have the guys take part with us and they were such good sports. They did learn that yoga is much harder than they anticipated. Tanja was so understanding of all the laughing at the guys we did. We did some of the basic yoga moves, some balance poses and some meditation, which my body really needed to get me into a better place.
After yoga brunch and mimosas is provided. We could pick anything off the brunch menu, which they have added some new must try items.
We tried one of the new items the asparagus benne, which was fabulous and then got some of our favorites. Everything on the brunch menu I have tried at Sol has had amazing flavors and I enjoy that the options are unique compared to most brunches. I really think it just depends on what you have a taste for when you go. My husband always gets one of the Benedicts, as we have found it kind of hard to find a good one and we really enjoy them here. This time around he got the house benne, which has Serrano ham, a poached egg and house hollandaise sauce on an English muffin. We also tried the asparagus benne since it was new. This benedict comes with frilled asparagus, Serrano ham, semi dried tomato gremo and house hollandaise sauce on multi-grain bread. My friend said she really enjoyed the flavor of this dish. We also decided on the Chicken and Waffle, the Cerveza Con Queso Hash, and Avocado and Egg Enchiladas. I have had all of what we ordered that day, all being good options. My favorite would be the Cerveza Con Queso Hash. I really like the runny egg over the Con Queso Hash and bacon and the fact that there is tons of Con Queso sauce over the hash. This dish also has a lime crema, which I will be honest I wish there was more of in this dish because the queso sometimes over powers the lime crema but it still one of my favorites and a must try if you love bacon and queso.
You cannot go wrong with any of these options or other options that you choose for Sol’s brunch. They have brunch Saturday and Sundays until 3pm and there is an option for unlimited mimosas for my mimosa lovers.
Some more self care to come but if you are looking for something to really calm you down and give you a workout check out Yoga by Taj. She is an amazing instructor and her classes right now are being held outside in some of the best parks in the Lake County area. You can’beat the views and having an instructor that really cares about what she is teaching. She loves teaching yoga and I am so glad I got to take one of her classes. Hoping to take another one soon so maybe I will see some of you there.
