Playing tourist in the CLE

I can’t believe Christmas is over and we are now into 2024. To finish out the holiday season I’ve got all the places we visited to enjoy the holiday lights. There are so many beautiful places to visit in downtown Cleveland to see Christmas lights and decorations. Most of the time I’m so busy running from the parking garage to dinner or to a Cavs game and only see the decorations in passing. This year my friend and I made it a point and spent a whole night playing tourist around Cleveland. We had such a blast!!

We started at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland Hotel side of the Arcade. I realized that a lot of people don’t realize this side is decorated for the holidays. Employees of the hotel have been decorating it for years. The architecture of the building and the decorations are just gorgeous.

From there we headed toward Public Square to see the lights and took a detour into Tower City since we heard it was all decorated. Public Square and Tower City were always places my parents took me as a kid and it warms my heart to see they are trying to bring back the decorations in Tower City. They decorated some of the store front windows and put a big tree and decorated walk area by the food court. The night we were there none of the extras was open but they also had Kringle’s Inventionasium, a meet and greet with Mr. Jingeling, Bruce the Spruce and the Holiday Spirits bar. The windows were decorated really cute and we enjoyed walking through. It brought back so many memories.

We walked back through Public Square to see all the Christmas lights. They had the tree decorated in the middle of Public Square, all kinds of decorations and the ice skating rink. The city did a really good job with these decorations.

We then headed to the other side of Euclid to the Playhouse district for the Festival of Trees at the Allen Theatre. Sadly this only ran through December 23rd. The trees are sponsored by local Cleveland businesses and clubs. It’s a nice touch for the holiday season. I will say there wasn’t as many trees this year as in the past but they were still decorated very well. Cleveland also put up another tree outside the Playhouse with the new marquees. There was some construction being done so it was hard to get great pictures of the marquees but they are breath taking and light up the whole street.

It was so much fun being a tourist in Cleveland and actually taking the time to see the decorations. What are some of your favorite places to see decorations?? Where did you visit this year?
