The first ice cream place we tried took me back to the city I grew up in most of my life, Eastlake. Cooper’s Twist & Shake is on Lakeshore Blvd, right by the marines and Yacht club. It is a cute little local place that in my opinion has some of my favorite ice cream. I grew up coming here a child, so I guess it made me a little bias from the beginning of this tour, but I am going to try to stay opened minded of course.
They serve soft serve ice cream, take cash only and are typically open 1-9 all summer. There menu is pretty extensive making the decision of what to get a little more difficult for most people. My husband is trying to get a turtle at what ever places carry them, which we are learning not all ice cream places do. The above picture was my Caramel Apple Crisp Parfait, which as I said before I am a little biased but it is my favorite sundae. The warm apples with the vanilla soft serve and caramel and pecans. The flavors just work so well together and the ice cream is the perfect texture.
My friend got the brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream and brownie bits. She said she really liked how the brownie was in bites not a full size brownie.
Cooper’s has monthly soft serve flavors, pumpkin tends to be the fall flavor and they are also known for their raspberry ice cream. I have to be honest I have never tried it in all the years I have been visiting but might have to make it a point to try it next time. I just can’t ever get away from the hot apples.
Well for our first ice cream review on our tour it seemed that Cooper’s knocked it out of the park. It had us very excited for this adventure! What are we going to do if all the places we try are this good? How do we even begin to pick our top 3 or 5? I guess we will have to see what’s next on the list.
