I really enjoy visiting The Cleveland Botanical Gardens. The botanical gardens is located in the University Circle area of Cleveland by the Cleveland Art Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Artists Archive of the Western Reserve. There are other museums in this area as well as restaurants, Severance Hall and Little Italy.
It is broken down into a couple different indoor sections and a huge outside section. If you follow the path you will start in an area that has some animals and plants in it. We enjoyed watching the turtle in this area, as it was moving all around. There is a waterfall in this area and lots of beautiful flowers. If you follow the path you will eventually move into a section of the gardens, that during the spring and summer is one of the highlights of the gardens, the butterfly garden. We spent quite awhile in this room. This area has two levels, both are filled with butterflies. One of my favorite things was the bridge on the second floor that has tons of vines and flowers. The butterflies just love it and we got to see a lot of different ones in this area.
The gardens also have an art gallery upstairs when you leave this area, a gift shop and a cafeteria all inside. You can then head outside for more beautiful gardens. It’s crazy to think you are in the middle of the city and you can’t even tell while visiting this outside area.
The outside area has a kids garden, a tree house and some beautifully themed gardens and paths.
The gardens also have different special events. They have orchids in the spring, and celebrate the holidays in the winter. If you enjoy nature, are visiting the University Circle area or are looking for something to do I would check out the gardens. They are just beautiful!
