Weekly Review July 5th 2021

Yes, I know I am a couple weeks behind on my weekly reviews. It is shocking how busy it has been even when we have been trying to slow back down. After such a busy Fourth of July weekend we really tried to relax a little. As I say those words I laugh because relaxation really never happens we just talk about it.

I met the girls out for taco Tuesday at Smokin’ Q’s BBQ and Beer House in Mayfield Village, Ohio. We had stopped there for dinner one night and decided we had to go back a try their tacos. We did question how tacos from a BBQ restaurant would be? I enjoyed that their options for tacos were different than most other restaurants and we decided to try some of the untraditional options. We also learned that if you sit in their bar area they have happy hour but it is only in the bar area. We did really enjoy our tacos and drinks.

The rest of the week was a little on the boring side. We caught up on Loki, the new Marvel show on Disney +. I can’t believe it’s over already. Did you watch and what are you thoughts?

Saturday we met up with some family for lunch at Chagrin Tavern in Eastlake, Ohio. It is tucked down the hill by the marinas. It has a spacaious deck and bar area that are really nice for grabbing some drinks and just hanging out. I was there a couple times last summer and a couple times this summer and the food is getting better. In the past there were only a couple items off the menu I would get. We then went over to Trade Jacks which is also across the river in Eastlake to have a another drink and just enjoy the beautiful weather. They also have an amazing patio area with views over the river. If you are a lover of Lobster Bisque soup I highly recommend trying Trader’s it’s one of my favorite items on there menu. We had some drinks, an appetizer and randomly some desserts. Reviews of both restaurants are coming soon.

Sunday we stopped into Barrio in Downtown Willoughby for an early breakfast. I tried there margarita of the month, no judging that is was 11 am on a Sunday morning! The special margarita was Peaches For Me, which was made with olmecs reposado, stirrings ginger, peach puree, lemonade and ice tea. I really like reposado tequila so I was happy this margarita was made with this as it was heavy on the tequila. It was still super good. We also tried the Just Peachy Guacamole since it was on the special menu. It was their traditional guacamole, mango salsa and habanero peach glaze. I loved that there were tons of pieces of mango in the guacamole but would have liked a little more kick from the habanero peach glaze. If you do not really eat spicy this is perfect. For my main dish I ordered a build your own bowl with chorizo, black beans, chihuahua cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, corn salsa, and cilantro-lime aioli. I love bowls like this and really appreciate getting to pick what I want on a taco or in a bowl. I am also obsessed with cilantro-lime aioli anywhere we go so that was just a plus to my morning. I haven’t completed a full review of Barrio but will try to get one out sometime soon. It’s become such a staple of the area and if you are visiting Cleveland is a must stop.

To close out our weekend we returned to the movie theater to see The Black Widow. I am a little biased as she is my favorite character but I thought this movie was amazing. It was a good balance of story telling, emotion and action. I won’t ruin it for anyone but if you are looking for a reason to make it back to the movie theater The Black Widow should be your reason.
