The week of July 12th was on the quiet side until the weekend. Friday night we tried the new restaurant in Downtown Willoughby, Sage Karma Kitchen. I plan on posting a full review soon but I love the cosmetic changes they made to the restaurant and that they kept the round bar. I had some conversations spark up with random people around the round bar. I just love the concept.
We also had my husbands 20th high reunion. It was nice to catch up with so many people and we enjoyed drinks at Wild Goose In Downtown Willoughby after.
The week of July 19th was more on the busy side. Swensons opened their Willoughby location the 19th. My friend and I are obsessed so of course we had to go. It was crazy busy but after a couple passes around the building we were able to get a parking spot. We both ordered Galley Boys and potato tweezers because what else would you get when you go!! We also went out to Fairport Creamery for some ice cream. I was shocked my friend hadn’t been there before and I was so excited for her to try their ice cream.
My husband was out of town the whole weekend so I took advantage and fit in as many places as I could that I wanted to try. On Friday I visited this little coffee shop called Couchland in Wickliffe, Ohio. I didn’t even know this was there and was just trying to find a new place to try. Everyone who follows knows I love finding these little businesses. I tried a lavender coffee, which was actually pretty good. I was a little nervous when she was like you should try lavender in your coffee, but it was good. They have breakfast sandwiches and pastries on their menu but the breakfast burrito was where it was at. You can get a bunch of different options in your burrito. I got sausage with egg, potatoes, veggies and cheese. The salsa that comes with the burrito is probably one of my favorites. It was a green salsa not very spicy but it had amazingly fresh flavor.
Later on Friday we traveled out to Bay Village. I feel like I never have enough time to make it to the west side of Cleveland so it was nice to get out there and check out some new places, as well as some newly renovated places. Our first stop was Boss Chick N Beer. I will for sure do a full review on this but man they seriously have some of the best chicken I have ever had. They also have a vegan menu and some of the items sounded great but we went for the chicken and I will for sure be back. The managers were so nice and informative. We felt like regulars right away. Go check them out!!!
We hiked at Huntington Reservation, walked around the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, where they rescue and rehab animals. It was a nice building and completely free. We also checked out the newly renovated beach area and got Honey Hunt ice cream from the Noshery, which just opened this summer. To close out our day we had dinner at Chatty’s Pizzeria, which is across the street from the beach area. The owner of the pizzeria was a chef for Michael Simon so we knew while we were out there this was a must try. The pizza was pretty good too!
Our Saturday adventure took us the opposite direction east to Geneva on the Lake to a little dog friendly restaurant Ruff Life on the Lake. They have some indoor seating, a store, and a good sized patio in the back and side of the building. The food here consists of your basic wraps and sandwiches and some fried food. I did enjoy the food but I really enjoyed that this place was all about our four legged furbabies. Our pups had a blast just chilling and hanging out. There were even people there eating that did not have dogs so as long as your cool with dogs being around you should go check it. We took them for a nice long walk down the strip since it had been a while since we had been there and they were both exhausted after.
We hit up Sage Karma Kitchen for dinner again. I enjoyed my dinner so much the first time I had to go back. The owners of Sage also own Tavern Six another one of my favorites. The Mac and Cheese at Sage is just as good as Tavern Six and they even carry the famous cupcakes. This one was a vegan snickerdoodle, which you would have never known it was vegan except for them telling you.
It was such a packed two weeks but so worth it. Wonder what the next couple weeks will bring us.
