Weekly Review: June 5th

We got back from Kentucky Saturday the 3rd and even though it was only 3 nights away it was nice to be back home. Kentucky was gorgeous and the prefect way for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The week of June 5th was on the busier side between stuff going on and projects at the house. We did get in one of our favorite restaurants and two new ones.

Sunday we grabbed brunch from Jack’s Deli and Restaurant in University Heights, Ohio. I always tell myself I am going to switch it up and then never do. The corned beef hash is just so good! I am pretty picky about corned beef and for most of my life I thought I didn’t like it. I learned that I do but it just has to be from the right places, Jack’s being one of them and one of the best. We also got the Ruben with Mac salad. Their Mac salad is something else that I just can’t explain but it’s so good. I even purchased a container from the deli to have later in the week.

This week was also the soft opening for the new The Club Lounge at Lost Nation Sports Park in Willoughby, Ohio, We stopped in to check it out and they were much busier than anticipated. With that being said our food was still delicious it just took a little bit for us to get it. Make sure when checking out these new restaurants to give them some grace as they may still be working things out. The food was hot when we received it and everything had great flavor. We got a pepperoni pizza, mild wings, a side of fries and then tried one of their sandwiches with a side salad. I’m excited to go back and check out some other things on the menu.

The week moved into a quieter weekend. We stopped at the St. Gabe’s festival in Concord, Ohio for dinner Friday night. I’m a sucker for summertime and festivals. I like that at St. Gabe’s all their food is home made and they do not have any of your typical festival trucks. We got a gyro, pierogies, and cabbage and noodles, then walked around the Monte Carlo to donate a little bit of money.

Saturday I wanted to go to Patterson’s Fruit Farm in Chesterland, Ohio for some strawberries and other produce. Their pick your own fields were done by 9:30 am so if that is something you are interested in doing make sure to go right when they open at 8 am. I did get lucky and got some strawberries!!

We headed out to Chesterland around 10 and tried Dine and Rise right on 306 before stopping at Patterson’s. Rise and Dine has so many breakfast and lunch options. It’s another place I will for sure being going back to check out more of their menu. Our server suggested the Hercules so I tried that and then we also got the Country Fried Steak. It was tons of food and well worth the price.

We finished the weekend out with some breakfast at home on Sunday. I made banana protein pancakes, with local maple syrup, Patterson’s strawberries and some banana slices. Then some golf in at Briardale Greens in Euclid, Ohio. This course has been open since 1977 and is a par 70. They offer a driving range, a chipping green, and a reactive putting green. They also have a bar area, Sticks Pub and Grille, which has a full menu. We just grabbed some hot dogs but they were good. We all golfed pretty well and for myself it was my first time out this summer. We almost beat the much needed rain which came in around the second to last hole and then dropped the temperature drastically. We were able to finish up and called it an end to our weekend.
