Tuesday Tasting at Sol

Last Tuesday Sol was generous enough to host my friends and I for a tasting of their new fall beverages. This event was so much fun! It was awesome to be some of the first people to try these new and innovative drinks and to really get to give a rounded opinion on what we thought. The girls that participated all have very different takes on what a good beverage is. I have one friend who prefers whiskey and she even like most of the tequila options. Some of the girls do not prefer spicy or pumpkin or fruity so this was a great opportunity to provide the restaurant with a wide variety of opinions and we also had tacos for dinner to round out our night. Which who doesn’t love taco Tuesdays!!!!

I am going to start with two of the favorites of the night, throw in some of the other winners and end with another favorite. The first drink of the night was the Cranberry Honey Margarita with a Himalayan salt rim, which we all loved so much I never got a picture of it. The drink was flavorful but was not too sweet and the Himalayan salt rim made the drink. Something I love about Sol’s margarita’s is that they experiment with different types of rims. It’s not your same plain salt or sugar rims depending on the drink.

The normal size Pumpkin Margarita and the samples we had. All were delicious!

The second drink of the night and one of the favorites was the Pumpkin Margarita. For starters two of the girls despise anything pumpkin. One of them loved this and the other still did not care for it. The rest of us, some lovers of pumpkin, and others it depends on what it is, loved this drink. I never would have thought a pumpkin margarita was even possible, but the flavors come together so well. It’s topped off with an agave whipped cream which takes this drink to another level. Even if you are not a fan of pumpkin, I suggest trying this amazing concoction.

The next couple drinks we tried were the Crooked Coffee, the Windchill and the Harvest Moon. All of these drinks have things that make them special in one way or another. If you love anything with a coffee flavor you should give the Crooked Coffee a try. It’s a combination of silver tequila, coffee tequila, Baileys, coffee and ginger liquor. Some of the girls were not fans of the type of coffee flavor of this drink but others who are coffee drinkers were very much fans of it. Unlike the Crooked Coffee where we were very divided, the Windchill and Harvest Moon we all were fans of. The Windchill as the girls stated, “tastes like a very good juice”, so for people not fans of strong alcohol flavors in their drinks this is the drink for you. The combination of the ingredients works so well together that you taste none of the alcohol and all of the amazing flavor. We also learned that night that Sol is making their own homemade apple cider for the next drink we tried the Harvest Moon. Honestly vodka is not a fan of me, so I do not typically drink it but I did give this drink a try and tried the homemade apple cider by itself and it was what makes this drink different. Its not as strong as some apple cider and allows the mixture of the drink and the smoked cinnamon stick to really bring all the flavors together. Nothing over powers in this drink and let’s be honest any drink that has a show with it peaks my interest. I have a video of the steps of this drink from Tuesday night on my Instagram and Facebook pages if your interested.

The last sample of the night was the Merry Mule and was another top favorite of the girls and for two of us who love our whiskey we were very much fans of this. One of my friends was in from out of town and said she will be back in for the holidays just for this. The Merry Mule had ginger beer of course, Jack Fire and orange juice and smells just like a Christmas tree. Not sure how it happens or why but that’s just some of the secrets Sol’s amazing talented mixologist might or might not ever tell us.

To end the night we all got tacos and queso and chips and enjoyed finishing off these tasty new drinks catching up. The tacos are just as good and unique as the drinks were and it was the perfect way to finish off our Tuesday girls night.

If you’re interested in trying any of these new drinks they are on the menu starting today November 4th and should be there through the holiday. Thanks to Sol for the generous hospitality and letting us try these new drinks.

***Disclosure: I was invited by Sol to have my friends and I try these complimentary drinks. As always my opinions are 100% my own.***
