Thanksgiving week in review

Cheesecake and Brownies Thanksgiving dinner

The past two months has been filled with some health issues, a new promotion at my full time job and just trying to get back on track with all the new changes. I’m finally starting to feel back to normal but still have days that can be a struggle. I have missed sharing Cleveland and life with everyone but it’s been so quiet that there hasn’t been much to share. I’m excited to get back to it and can’t wait to share some things to do in Cleveland for the holidays.

This is the first Thanksgiving I haven’t had to work in 20 years at the restaurant and it felt so weird to have the week and Thanksgiving to myself. We had two Cavs games this week. We lost both but we kept up with two really good teams, the Nets and Suns. The Cavs are just so fun to watch!

Thanksgiving was really quiet. I enjoyed watching the parade live and just drinking coffee on the couch. We spent dinner time with some family. It was so nice to be back with everyone. We ate a traditional turkey and stuffing dinner, which was delicious. The star of dinner was the cheesecake brownie cake my sis in law brought. It came from Sam’s Club and was amazing. I only ate the cheesecake portion but everyone seemed to really like the brownies as well. The cheesecake was on the rich side but my opinion not too rich.

Friday we spent the day shopping for furniture for our other living room, and we did finally find something. Shout out to Furniture Warehouse Ohio. The furniture is very reasonably priced, they are super nice and they have items in stock which was a must for me.

We also kept with our Friday after Thanksgiving tradition of dinner and a movie with one of my besties. We ate at Wild Goose in downtown Willoughby, Ohio and saw the new Ghostbusters movie. Wild Goose is a bar restaurant located right on Erie street. They have some apps and sandwiches on their menu but the pizza is really what you want from here. We order the hankie pankies, which was the special appetizer, the gyro pizza, also the special pizza on the menu, and a Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese pizza. The hankie pankies were a little on the bland side for me. When I make mine I use zesty sausage and these were just made with regular sausage, but they were still good. Both pizzas are thin crust with tons of toppings. The gyro had lamb meat lettuce tomatoes cheese and a tzatziki sauce. I enjoyed how light this pizza was and how well all the flavors worked together. The Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese is our favorite pizza Wild Goose has. It’s just so good! It’s their Mac and cheese pizza add chicken and then they drizzle the Buffalo sauce. It gives it the right amount of kick.

If you haven’t seen Ghostbusters I highly suggest it. I had other choices in mind but was really happy with our choice. There are some parts in the movie that I questioned but for the most part the movie was done really well and I liked some of the surprises I wasn’t expecting. I won’t share because I don’t wait to ruin it in case.

We decide not to have a huge get together for Saturday. I did very much miss hosting and seeing everyone but I did still cook. I made a bourbon bacon apple pie, a pumpkin whipped pie, a turkey, homemade stuffing, green bean casserole and gravy. I love spending the day in the kitchen. After dinner we watched some movies and just chilled.

I closed out my long weekend decorating for Christmas and watching football. It’s tradition to put my Christmas tree up the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend and this weekend was no exception. Its starting to feel more like Christmas time with the snow starting to fall and I can’t wait to share some things to do around Cleveland for the holidays. Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
