It became apparent to me I had no fall blog posts and I have so many favorite places and festivals in and around Cleveland that I love to visit. Let’s start with one of the places I visit most often all year long. I know people think about Patterson’s Fruit Farm in the fall but I also visit them all year long for other fresh produce, donuts and some other local items. This is family owned by the Patterson family. Their website has the full story of how the farm came to be and evolved. It’s a great story!
Patterson’s has 2 locations. 8765 Mulberry Road Chesterland, OH which is where you can pick your own apples and where fun fest is located and their farm market at 11414 Caves Rd Chesterland, OH.
The Mulberry location hosts a family fun fest from around the end of September until the end of October. These dates change depending on the year but they update their website when it opens and the date it closes. This year the last day is October 27, 2024. Prices and hours depend on the day. Monday thru Thursday they are open 10-6 and cost is 7 dollars. Friday thru Sunday hours are 10-5 and cost is 11 dollars. We took my nephew a couple years ago and we had so much fun. There are so many things for the kids to do which included a huge play area, slides, a corn maze, wagon rides and so much more. This is also where they host pick your own apples. They list on their website the types of apples available if there is a specific kind you are looking for. This location is not dog friendly.
The Caves location is where the farmers market is located and Orchard Hills event center. The market and event center sit up a ridge with a beautiful view of Orchard Hills Park. On a clear day you can see Lake Erie from here which is 19 miles away. It’s just gorgeous when the trees begin to change and you have that clear view of the lake.
The farmers market is open all year long just with limited hours certain times of the year. The market location is dog friendly and is a popular place for fall family photos. Some of my favorites from the market aside from apples are the apples fritters, apple dumplings, all their different flavored donuts, apple cider and multiple kinds of produce. They also sell local jams, honey, nut butters, soups, meat, eggs and cheeses.
This location does have a small play area, a 4-h barn (which I had no clue in all the years I’ve been there) and you can purchase mums and pumpkins. This location does also have food on the weekends and hot apple cider and apple slushes. I typically visit early fall and again late fall when I can get my favorite apple the Melrose.
This is a must visit for me every fall. Make sure to add Pattersons fruit farm to your fall bucket list.
