Kintaro Sushi Hibachi

After our downtown Cleveland adventures two Saturdays ago, we decided to go try out a new restaurant in Eastlake, Ohio. Eastlake is a small suburb about 15 mins east of downtown. It is also where the Captains, the minor league baseball team’s stadium is located.

This past week was their soft opening and they were providing complementary soft drinks. They are an all you can eat sushi and hibachi restaurant and they are also a seafood shake. Per their website, if you mention their website they will give you 10% off lunch and 15% of dinner.

They completely remodeled the inside of this restaurant and it is very nice. It does not even resemble the past restaurants. The bar is right up front where you walk in. There was a couple different dining areas throughout the restaurant. The sushi bar was right at the front so no matter where you are seated you will walk by the sushi chefs.

My niece and nephew ordered the strawberry bubble tea. Which it appears they loved it as we had to purchase seconds. Bubble tea is tea mixed with milk and fruit and fruit juices and then the Boba.

I ordered the fried mushrooms and spring rolls for appetizers. The fried mushrooms were served with soy sauce and were piping hot. They were fine but in my opinion had little flavor. The spring rolls on the other hand had more flavor and came with what tasted like a Thai sauce. You get five mushrooms and two spring rolls with the all you can eat order.

Most of our party ordered sushi. I am not totally sure what all I tried but all of it was very good. I know that I did try a shrimp tempura and a shrimp tempura with crab. Both were wrapped in a soy wrap instead of seaweed (pink in the photos). I preferred these over the sushi I have had wrapped in seaweed. I know they also ordered a California roll, spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Everyone said the sushi was amazing.

I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi and was brought out chicken and steak. I totally understand it was their soft opening and everyone is still learning so it was not a big deal. It was weird though because the other hibachi that was ordered was actually ordered chicken and steak and they never asked her how she wanted her steak cooked. Which my steak was well done, with no pink at all. If you prefer your steak rare or medium I highly suggest saying something. It comes with veggies and a scoop of fried rice, which were both okay. They did bring out a sauce with the hibachi but it tasted different than normal Yum Yum sauce, so I did not use it.

I will be honest if you are a sushi lover this is a place to check out for sure. The sushi tasted fresh and looked amazing! If you are going for hibachi I would suggest somewhere else. The hibachi was fine and if you have a non sushi lover it is an okay meal. I have just had better hibachi at other places and would not seek Kintaro out just for hibachi. I will take into consideration it was there opening week so I will make it a point to try the hibachi again and reassess. Once again if you like sushi I would check them out.
