Hingetown area of Cleveland

A couple years ago there was not much in this area. Now it has built up so much and there are some must visit places. Hingetown is considered the area between Ohio City/W 25th and Gordon Square Arts District. The original reason I visited this area was because of Saucy Brew Works. I am going to cover a couple of the places we have visited, and some places I can’t wait to try out.

Back in April we attended a really cool event at Saucy’s new Vibe Garden. I have a friend who is now an investor into Saucy and him and his wife invited us to join their investors celebration. Vibe Garden is on Clinton Ave, right around the corner from Saucy’s main building which is on Detroit Ave. The Vibe Garden is all outside. They have picnic tables all over this outdoor grassy area. They have a couple different leagues that consist of volleyball, cornhole and a pub run club. You can check their website for the schedules for these leagues. I am hoping to play in a volleyball tournament there this summer. The day we were there they also had live music, you can order beers right there and you can order food from Saucy on an app and they will deliver it over to the garden. The area is dog friendly just like Saucy’s patio and there were quite a few dogs there the day we were there. Even though you are in the middle of the city it was nice to have a nice size outdoor area to hangout in.

The area itself is very unique with different murals drawn on the buildings. I love just walking around and browsing the area. They just add such character to this area.

They have also added a couple of different apartment complexes and due to this also a parking garage or two. That were not there before. Well with a parking garage comes this cute little area and yep there is a hidden slide that comes out of the parking garage. My friend randomly saw it on Tik Tok so naturally we had to go in search of it. It is right across from Vibe Garden on Clinton Ave. The door to the parking garage is to the left of the slide and you go up a couple floors (there are signs once inside) and bam you are there.

Now to Saucy Brew Works and their food. They have this location in the Hingetown area, a location at Pinecrest (with food coming to this location soon), Columbus and Detroit, MI. I feel like if you are visiting Cleveland or even if you are from here. You can’t go to the Hingetown area and not get Saucy Brew Works pizza and beer. I have visited a couple times and they have even hosted some of our Cavs events for season ticket holders. They have a main bar and seating area, a patio and some seating on the second level as well. You order at the bar and then when you food is done they call your name and you pick it up at the kitchen area. They have some standard brews that they have all the time and then other brews that they switch up depending on the time of year. Of course some of my favorites are limited. I did recently try Caught in the Rain, a Lachancea Tart IPA consisting of Pineapple, vanilla beans and milk sugar, which is on the current menu as of May. It was fabulous with lots of pineapple notes. When smelling it it had a strong grassy smell but the flavor did not taste how it smelled. So even if you are not an IPA person they have tasters and I highly recommend trying it.

Saucy’s menu has some shareable, sandwiches, salads, pizza, and and wings. I have tried a couple of their pizzas, which were all good but my go to is the Nashville hot chicken. One I love me some Nashville hot chicken anything. Two how can you go wrong with Pickles on a Pizza!!! The Porky Porker, Fungus Amongus (if you like mushrooms and goat cheese) and the Margherita are other pizzas off the top of my head I have tried and all were good. I am a fan of mushrooms and then anything with goat cheese so the Fungus Amongus would probably be my next favorite on the list.

I have also tried their Buffalo wings. The buffalo sauce had a slight kick but was not too spicy. I thought the wings were cooked well. I prefer my wings a little more cooked/on the crispier side but they were good. We tried the Mac and cheese for the first time when we were at the event at Vibe Garden. Aside from it coming in a box, it was creamy and cheesy and had great flavor. I like that it was baked and the top was crispy. I feel like there sandwiches and salads are probably just as amazing as their pizza but I just can’t get myself to get anything but pizza when I am there. It just goes so well with their beer.

I think no matter what location you visit of Saucy’s it is a place if you are visiting Cleveland you should check out but the Hingetown area has so much character to it. It is a fun place to walk around and just enjoy all this little area has to offer. It’s not far from some of Cleveland’s other areas or Downtown either.

There are a couple of places I haven’t been but are hoping to check out in Hingetown. They are Cleveland Tea Revival, Jukebox, Rising Star Coffee Roasters, Three Dog Bakery and Tranformer Station. Can’t wait to check out these places.
