So my first review is of a restaurant I believe to be a Cleveland staple. I also think you either love it or you don’t. That restaurant would be Melt Bar and Grilled. I feel like if you are visiting Cleveland or other Ohio cities that now have a Melt, it is a must try. They have locations at Progressive field, and at Cedar Point, as well as a couple other cities in Ohio besides Cleveland. I will be honest I have realized not everyone has a love for it like my husband and I but if you haven’t tried it I highly suggest it. I just love all the unique grilled cheeses and they have a pretty good vegan menu as well. I also realized as I was writing this I don’t have very many photos from our visits there and I’m pretty sure I just get so excited and forget to take pictures of my food. I swear they have all kinds of amazing items.
I am sad to say the Melt in Cleveland Heights did close and that was the first one I went to. I have some pretty funny memories from that trip. My husband and friend decided they were going to try the Melt challenge, which was all over Food Network. It consists of 13 different cheeses, 3 slices of grilled bread, and a pile of hand-cut fries and slaw. I kept telling myself the food challenges was just a phase back then, but who am I kidding. If you asked him now to do one he would be in lol! Well neither of them finished sadly but it was for sure an experience.
They tend to have a pretty big beer tap list from local breweries as well as some not so local and an even bigger bottle/can list.
As for the food, there are two things the might surprise you. I am not a fan of there Mac and cheese but if I am craving a great salad I think they have some of the best. I like that the salad is more than just iceberg or romaine lettuce. You can pick the type of shedded cheese and dressing. The side salad also comes with croutons, tomatoes and hard boiled eggs. It’s just a really good salad.
Every month Melt has a special sandwich along with some other specials. For the month of February they have the Hungry Hungarian and the General Tso’s Delicious Manchu Dynasty Melt. I have not tried either of these but I am pretty intrigued by the Hungry Hungarian. If I go give it a try I’ll let you know what I think. The night we went was because of the special sandwich, The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. It’s one of my husbands favorites. It has all kinds of different bacons, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato. He says it is amazing.
That night I got a half a sandwich, which is an option for any of the sandwiches now. I prefer their chorizo and potato grilled cheese. I have tried a couple others but this one is my favorite. Then I got a salad and I did try a side of Mac and Cheese, with the same reaction I have had in the past. The salad was amazing and everything was really fresh with it being winter in Cleveland. The Mac and Cheese was just too heavy and filling. It’s not a creamy Mac and cheese, almost like it’s missing something but it does have a good flavor. It’s just not my favorite.
If you are visiting Cleveland sometime soon or just have never tried Melt out I would suggest it. It is not something we eat all the time but it is something that has become a Cleveland staple and is a must try.
I thought I was the only one! I love the grilled cheese and the fries and their house made ranch… but there’s something special about their salads!!!
Hi Jodi, I totally agree their salads are amazing! So many people are confused when I’m like can we go to Melt I have a taste for a salad and YES!! their ranch. SO GOOD! Thanks for the support and following!
