It’s that time of year! This year the Asian Lantern Festival started Friday July 7th and currently goes until August 27th from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. We have seen in the past that they have extended the end date so we may see that again. Wednesdays are drive thru days and the other dates are walk thru only. We are going this weekend and I can’t wait to share everything new this year. Until then here is what you can expect from past festivals.
We have gone every year since this started. It has become a family tradition. The Metroparks does a great job with all the displays. They are gorgeous whether you walk through during the day light or once its dark enough for them to be lit up.
Some of the animals are out during the beginning of the event but the Australian area and up the hill are closed along with the rainforest.
They have live performances a couple times a night at the Savanna Theater. Food and Beverages are available for purchase which include Kernels by Chrissie, Jack Frost Donuts, and 808 Hawaiian Ice. They also have a couple Asian food options through out the zoo.
They change up the lanterns every year so you never know what you are going to see. This is one of my favorite events at the zoo and I can’t wait to visit this year. Are you going or have you gone in the past? What are some of you favorites from past years or this year?
