Brant’s Apple Orchard is located at 4749 Dibble Rd. In Ashtabula, OH. Brant’s is open Tuesday thru Sunday, from August until the day before Thanksgiving. Check their website for their hours as they change depending on the time of year. They have parking right on their property, some paved and some gravel or grass. They have a beautiful pond and walking trails to enjoy. As well as picnic tables and benches to enjoy your food and the scenery.
When you walk up to the main building you will want to get into the line you see, which will probably be lined up to or outside the door. The line moves quickly and is the main line for food and bakery. Once inside you can shop while in line. You will eventually come to the bakery counter where you can order food and bakery and then get back into line to get drinks and pay. This area is where you can order the apple cider and/or grape slushy, hot apple cider and coffee.
They are known for their apple cider donuts, apple cider, their bakery items and their apple cider slushes. They carry 27 different varieties of apples that you can pick yourself or buy at the market. There are tons of packaged food items to purchase for home which include but not limited to apple butter, apple cider, candies, mixes for pancakes, salsas and dressings. They have home made sandwiches, soups, and salads for lunch. All the sandwiches come with an apple except the pulled pork Mac sandwich.
I have tried a couple different food items and would suggest not only is Brant’s a great place to get apples from but it should also be a destination to grab some lunch and enjoy the grounds. I’ve tried the pulled pork sandwich and it is fabulous. The pulled pork is marinated in an apple butter bbq sauce, which puts it a little on the sweet side and then add the Mac and cheese and it just takes it to another level. The pulled pork is sweet, tender and flavorful. I will say I do wish the portion of Mac and cheese was a little more on the sandwich but it was still excellent. I paired my sandwich with the broccoli cheese soup, which also came with a slice of bread for dipping. I love having bread for dipping so I’m such a fan of this. The soup was on the thicker side with lots of broccoli and cheesy flavor.
Their bakery carries apple cider and cinnamon sugar donuts, cookies, a couple muffin options, apple, pumpkin and grape pies, and some specialty bakery items like apple blossoms, danish, turnovers and caramel apple shortcake as well as some other options. Their apple turnovers are my pick out for the bakery items. It’s sweet but not too sweet and melt in your mouth good. I have also tried their apple slushy, which was as good as everyone raves about. This last time I opted for a cup of coffee. They have special flavors and the day I was there it was pumpkin pie. The coffee did have a pumpkin taste but was just a little watered down for me. I like my coffee a little stronger but the pumpkin flavor was still good.
Brant’s is a such a fun fall destination. I could enjoy the scenery for hours. It’s only about an hour from downtown Cleveland and a great excuse to head out east and enjoy Ashtabula county. Have you been to Brant’s? Do you have a favorite lunch or bakery item?
